Embarking on a family road trip from Delhi to Rishikesh during the Christmas holidays offered a blend of adventure and tranquility. Traveling with children aged 5 to 10, we planned a 4-day itinerary to explore this spiritual town nestled by the Ganges.
Day 1: Journey to Rishikesh
We departed Delhi at 8 AM, navigating through traffic in Haridwar and Rishikesh, and arrived at our hotel, Raga on the Ganges, after approximately 8 hours. The hotel’s location above the Ganges provided a serene backdrop for the evening Ganga Aarti, which we observed from the balcony, immersing ourselves in the spiritual ambiance.

Day 2: Trek to the River Beach
The hotel organized a morning trek to a secluded beach along the Ganges. The trail, moderately challenging yet manageable for our group, led us to white sands accompanied by the soothing sounds of the river and surrounding jungle—a highly recommended experience. Meals were included in our package; we enjoyed a light lunch at the hotel and later visited a nearby establishment for coffee and snacks.
Day 3: River Rafting Adventure
We embarked on a river rafting excursion, selecting a beginner-friendly course suitable for our 7 and 9-year-old children. The hotel facilitated the booking and provided staff to accompany us to the starting point. The rafting experience was exhilarating, featuring a mid-river swim that delighted everyone.

Day 4: Farewell to Rishikesh
Before departing, we descended the hotel’s steep stairs to the Ganges to collect Gangajal, cherishing our final moments by the river. This concluded our memorable journey, leaving us refreshed and eager for future adventures.
