Sometimes, all you want is a laid-back trip where you can unwind, soak in the views, and let go of the daily hustle. That’s exactly what we did with our Maldives getaway in March — a perfect family escape designed to relax, recharge, and enjoy some quality time together. No hectic sightseeing plans, just chill mode on.
1. Day 1: Arrival in Paradise – Taj Coral Reef Resort
Our journey started from Gurugram, and we took an Indian airline flight to Malé, the capital of the Maldives. From there, Taj Coral Reef Resort had arranged a seamless speedboat transfer that made the journey smooth and exciting. The speedboat ride itself was a thrilling way to kickstart our vacation, cruising over turquoise waters straight to our island retreat.
Taj Coral Reef turned out to be the perfect choice — ideal for families traveling with kids. We had opted for an all-inclusive meal plan and transfers, which made the trip hassle-free and more enjoyable. The resort is stunningly beautiful with its white sandy beaches, clear waters, and lush greenery. What stood out was the incredible hospitality and attention to detail by the Taj team.
For the first night, we stayed in a Beach Villa — perfect for the kids, with direct beach access and plenty of space. After settling in, we spent the day simply relaxing by the beach, soaking in the views, and trying out some delicious food (highly recommend the Indian cuisine here!).

2. Day 2: Snorkeling, Marine Life, and Sunset Magic

Day 2 was all about exploring the vibrant underwater world. Taj Coral Reef is a paradise for beginners wanting to try snorkeling or other water activities. The resort has a 1000-year-old active coral reef right at its doorstep, attracting a fascinating variety of marine life. One of the coolest things was spotting a shipwreck site nearby — a major attraction for scuba divers.
The best part? The resort provides all the gear needed for snorkeling, free of cost, making it super convenient to dive into the experience whenever you feel like it. The kids were amazed by the colorful fishes, and the calm waters made it safe and fun for everyone.
We also moved to another villa category for a different experience, enjoying the views and luxury each type offered. Later in the evening, we watched the magical sunset — one of the trip’s highlights. The resort even has special night lights at the reception that attract a variety of fish, including baby sharks. It became a ritual for the kids to hang around there, mesmerized by the sight.
3. Day 3: Soaking in the Last Moments of Paradise
On our final day, we took things slow — a lazy breakfast, walks along the beach, and simply absorbing the serene beauty of the Maldives. Taj also arranges romantic dinners or BBQ setups for special occasions, which adds a magical touch if you’re celebrating something — or even if you just want to make a memory.
Before we left, the resort had a special surprise — a sweet banner at departure saying, “We will miss you!” It genuinely made us feel special and left us smiling as we boarded our speedboat back to Malé.
